Council is committed to strengthening Manitoba's Crown corporations. The Auditor General's Report of 2009 indicated that 66% of board members expressed support fo governance training and capacity building opportunities for Manitoba's public sector boards. In response, government asked Council to develop and deliver a program to promote excellence in public board governance. This program has since been named the Board Performance Training program.
Workshops revolve around areas of core competencies and current issues that affect governance and leadership in Manitoba's public sector, including Roles and Responsibilities, Finance, Strategy, Risk, Evaluation and Performance.
Sessions include individuals from a variety of boards, and are held in a small group setting to encourage participants to engage in discussions with their peers around topics presented.
